Tour is a 90 mile paved loop tour around the southern slopes of Mt. Hood.
The bus will stop at a small village with several eating places plus craft
shops. Lunch will be on your own.
The Loop is a scenic drive through beautiful country - - farms, ranches, and
vineyards. The scenery changes from small family farms and nurseries to
primeval forest, small waterfalls, wild and scenic rivers.
We will drive a few miles up Mt. Hood to the Timberline Lodge which was
built in the 1930's by the WPA and CCC. The lodge is open all year and
offers views of the summit as well as panoramic vistas.
The Barlow Road segment of the Loop marks one of the most legendary
mass migrations in history - - a portion of the Oregon Trail.
Our return to Portland is by way of the Columbia River Gorge, which offers
its own beauty.
